IS RIO PRO RIGHT FOR ME?

Our school is for everyone that is looking to improve the overall quality of their life. We offer a diverse set of classes that fit everyone’s needs from professional fighters to stay-at-home moms. No previous experience? Haven't stepped foot in a gym in a while? No problem. We love beginners!!

HOW DO I START?

Simply fill out the form at the top corner of this page or give us a call at 216-765-4444. Our Program Director (Vlad) will reach out to you and schedule an Introductory Class. During that class, You'll receive a free t-shirt and uniform. In addition, Vlad will give you a tour of the school, go over the programs, explain the schedule, as well as teach you a sample class on the mat. It’s is an hour dedicated to giving you the ability to see what Rio Pro is all about, We can’t wait to hear from you!!

WHO TRAINS AT RIO PRO?

Everyone!!! We have a very diverse group of students. Lawyers, doctors, pilots, plumbers, surgeons, police, FBI, teachers, bankers, students, etc. With the majority of students being working professionals, you can expect an inviting and welcoming atmosphere. We do not tolerate the typical tough guy. Everyone is here to have fun, get in shape, and learn something new.

HOW OFTEN WILL I BE EXPECTED TO TRAIN?

That is completely up to you. Many of our students have busy careers, crazy schedules, kids, and all other stresses that life can throw at you. So we don’t have any expectations when someone walks in our doors. Your training schedule is completely up to you. Although we have a large number of classes through the weeks the majority of students come 2 to 3 times a week. Some weeks you might come 5 times and other weeks you may come only once and that's okay. We just try to recommend that you be consistent, whatever that may mean for your personal schedule.

WHAT IF IM NOT IN SHAPE?

Another common question, but you will be relieved to know that most new students are not in “jiu-jitsu shape”. What we mean is all new students get winded and tired training BJJ. That is mainly because it's something new for your body to get adjusted to and we can not expect someone who has never trained before to come in shape for this sport. As you begin your journey training you will start seeing major changes to your flexibility, agility, speed, strength, cardio and mental awareness.

WHAT IF I HAVE NO EXPERIENCE?

The large majority of students that start training at Rio Pro have absolutely no background in any martial arts whatsoever. All new students start off in a Fundamentals Program to learn the basics of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu concepts and techniques. Consider the Fundamentals Program similar to your first few days in school, the teachers have no expectations for you to already know math, history, language arts, etc when you are just starting out…. Similarly, in our Fundamentals Program, we expect most new students to know nothing about Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Our Fundamentals program will cover beginner takedowns, submissions, escapes, concepts, etc to build a solid foundation of techniques.

AM I TOO OLD TO START TRAINING?

You do not have to be in your 20’s to start training. The average age of our adult students is 30 with many students in their 40’s, 50’s, and even 60’s. Jiu-Jitsu can be trained safely regardless of your starting point. We are very proud to have the ability to serve all ages that want to learn.

ARE YOUR CLASSES JUST FOR MEN?

In short NO! Classes at Rio Pro are with both men and women with also a separate program just for kids. We along with our students ensure that no matter who walks into our schools that they will be more than comfortable inside our programs.
